A New Discovery (iv) A New Discovery (iv). ‘I am most eager to begin cataloguing and studying theses delights….’
This is an original sculpture comprising of a fragile handmade paper vessel, with inclusions of antique lace fragments. This contains a smaller vessel inside it that is made entirely of antique lace. Another small single vessel of handmade paper and antique lace is displayed separately. Both are mounted on antique wooden bobbins and displayed within a handmade glass dome. At the base of the bobbins are filaments of silk from silk carrier rods.
The five chests that Clara and her father discovered had contained quantities of these most unusual fibres packed around the delicate vessel. Clara said that neither her father nor any of his antiquarian friends and associates had ever before seen the like of such a substance. She staunchly holds to her belief that there is definitely faerie handiwork involved here…
Please note this is a delicate one off piece of artwork and cannot be re-created.
